FAQs

What's the JET? The JET (Jordan Elbridge Transportation Program) is a free service provided by the Town of Elbridge to transport Senior Citizens (age 60+) and handicapped residents to their medical appointments and other essential services. We do not accommodate individuals who are under the age of 60 who are unable to make their appointment due to a lack of vehicle. We will only pick up and drop off individuals who live within the Town of Elbridge.

What type of vehicle will pick me up and who drives them? We operate with three vehicles: two traditional 7-passenger Dodge Caravans and one 12-passenger wheelchair accessible bus. Our drivers are community volunteers and happy to be of service. Our drivers are NOT medically trained professionals. They are required to stay in the vehicle as often as possible but will assist with the loading of medical equipment and the assurance that passengers enter the vehicles safely. Our drivers will NOT enter passenger homes or doctors offices. All medical equipment must be provided by the passenger (for example, we do not provide or loan out wheelchairs).

How much does it cost to ride the JET? The JET is FREE! There is no charge to ride the JET. Donations are gladly accepted, but not required. Donations can be made when boarding the bus or van or by sending a check to the Town Office.

How can I make a Reservation? Call 315-604-1322 at least 2 (business) days in advance of your appointment. Leave a voicemail with rider information (name, address, phone number, notification of any medical equipment that will be brought by the passenger) and appointment information (address, appointment time, appointment date). You will receive a call back with pick-up times TWO DAYS prior to your appointment. If we are unable to accommodate you, we will call you back ASAP. Appointments are scheduled on a first come/first serve basis. If you would like to take a trip to the grocery store, pharmacy, or other essentials, please provide a window of time that you would prefer and we will do our best to be flexible and accommodate you.

What days and times does the JET operate? Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM. The JET only closes on major holidays such as Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day, New Year's Day, Independence Day, Memorial Day and Labor Day. The JET will not operate on days when JE schools are closed due to weather.

Can I volunteer to drive for the JET? Is it a big commitment? The JET is a volunteer based program and urgently needs your help. A CDL is NOT required. You do NOT need to drive your own vehicle. We provide all in-house training. The commitment to volunteer can be large or small: many of our volunteers only drive to two appointments per month. Some of our volunteers drive daily. Volunteers have complete control of their own schedule and are approached in advance if they would be willing to drive to a required location on a certain date & time. Volunteers can say "yes or no" to any upcoming trip. If you have a little extra time and would enjoy working with Elbridge residents, please consider volunteering your time to the JET Program. Driving for the JET is a very rewarding experience and a great way to connect and give back to the senior citizens in our community.
