Want to plant something in your own backyard that will provide shade, natural habitat, and beautiful scenery?
Join the Town of Elbridge Environmental Commission for their First Annual Native Tree Giveaway!
This event will take place on Saturday, May 14th at 9 AM, behind the Jordan-Elbridge Community Center. 100 tree seedings have been ordered, and UP TO THREE trees will be given to each participating household (MUST be a Town of Elbridge resident!). Why plant native trees? They provide food and shelter for wildlife, improve water quality, are well adapted to our local climate, and often have higher pest resistance than non-native trees.
*Species available for ordering include: 1) Red Oak, 2) White Oak 3) Swamp White Oak 4) Sugar Maple 5) Red Maple 6) Shagbark Hickory 7) Eastern White Pine 8) Gray Dogwood 9) River Birch 10) American Beech 11) Serviceberry
*To reserve your tree(s), please contact the Town Clerk by phone at (315)-689-9031 ext. 1, or by email at townclerk@townofelbridge.com
As part of the event, members of the Environmental Commission will have a demonstration area set up, showing you how to properly plant the trees for optimal growing success. Please be sure to bring the following items when picking up your tree(s): 1) Large plastic/trash bags, and 2) a tarp or bucket (for transporting wood chips, which will be provided at the giveaway).
We look forward to seeing you there!
